NJ Church Oasis Using Internet to Draw Hurricane Sandy Volunteers

NJ Church
An Oasis Hurricane Sandy Clean Up Team

This November Oasis-Church-NJ.com, a NJ contemporary Christian church, is doing the same things that some other NJ  and Staten Island churches are doing: They are collecting food for the hungry and sending teams of Hurricane Sandy volunteers down the Jersey Shore to help clean up debris and minister to those stricken by the storm. However, Oasis has also been doing something else quite unique to help bring hope to the area. They have been using the Internet to attract hundreds of Hurricane Sandy volunteers from all across the country to help make the Thanksgiving holiday season a little brighter for those who lost it all in the super storm.

Dave Butler, Oasis lead pastor, stated “we wanted to do all we could to help the folks and beach towns that line the NJ coast and Staten Island, but we knew our resources would be limited. Then we got the idea to use our knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) along with  our church website and affiliated church blogs to get the word out about the great needs in our communities.” Butler, a professional  church web designer and SEO expert at Christian Web Media stated, “I’m grateful for our sites that combined attracts well over 100,000 monthly visitors,  and I was so amazed at the good hearts of the people across our land.

In the last week alone we referred over 100 Hurricane Sandy Relief volunteers who found us through Google, Yahoo and Bing from such diverse places as California, North Carolina, Vermont, Texas and Missouri. From there we have been funneling people to the wonderful organizations we are partnering with like Samaritan’s Purse, Christ in Actionand the  C&MA Metro District Disaster Relief Outreach. Butler went on to exclaim, “Just because the storm has been over for two weeks, much work still needs ts be done. If folks are interested in volunteering up through Thanksgiving, they can volunteer directly through contacting these excellent non-profit ministries. We believe in these , and that’s why Oasis is trying to get the word out about them.
