Oasis Celebrated its First Christmas Eve

If you’ve been following our blog from the beginning of this God amazing adventure we call Oasis-Church-NJ.com, you are probably rejoicing with us about what He has done over the last year and a half. One friend who recently visited Oasis for the first time had this to say: “You spoke about starting a church for years, but I never thought it would ever happen. Boy was I wrong!” Over and over again, the Lord keeps reminding me of this: Never ever (put another ever in there!) underestimate the power of vision and the fact that our God is in the business of using ordinary people (translation: flawed, weak misfits by the world’s standards) to do extraordinary crazy things for Him.
As I stood up in front of all the folks who showed up for our first Christmas Eve as a new and growing church family, I was so overwhelmed with joy thinking about how God honors faith-filled risking taking for the Kingdom. Looking out at them with my IPhone, I asked them if I could take a picture! They said yes, but I mean, what were they gonna say on Christmas Eve? LOL. BTW, I’ll be putting up pictures soon, but in between that time I have video of the service for those who were not able to be there, or are curious about how we do a message at OC:
Over all, I guess the purpose of this blog entry is to remind myself and others that God honors vision and faith, and to let newcomers on this site know that Oasis-Church-NJ.com is a new casual, contemporary Christian church that meets Sundays at 11am at 1180 Spruce Dr in Mountainside, and during the the week in Connect Groups in various locations around NJ. So if any of you out there are yearning for more of God, meaning and purpose in life, come check us out. At Oasis Kids Clubs parents will be delighted to find a safe, fun and spiritually rewarding environment for nursery and school age children up to grade 5. Our supervising staff at Oasis Kids Clubs is certified to teach Early Childhood and Elementary Education through the state of NJ.
Not only will we provide your kids Bible group lessons in an exciting and easy to learn multi-media format, but also cool games, crafts and music that are age appropriate. Much, but not all of our resource material is drawn from KidMo, which we have tailored and made our own for Oasis Kids.
After all, church kids clubs should be refreshing and fun, right? Of course they should! But the fun and learning doesn’t have to end there. Wouldn’t it be great if kids had a way to remember and apply what they learned at Kids Clubs on Sunday? All from their own homes?
Check it out. In line with the fact that Oasis Church NJ began as an online outreach, we’re going to be rolling out the 21st century version of the mailbox Bible kids club-an interactive and free virtual Oasis Kids Club Blog concocted specially for kids 4 thru 5th grade. It’s gonna be packed with neat stuff and links for the kids, and will also have online learning tools that will make it fun for you as parents to go over the week’s kids club lesson they got at the OC in NJ.

Oasis Church Launch Team at Liberty

Wow! This past weekend our Oasis Church Launch Team had an amazing time on our road trip to the NEXT Conference located at Liberty Seminary in Lynchburg, VA. Not only was it wonderful to meet and network with hundreds of church planters from all over the USA, we also received some great training from Hal Mayer and Randy Smith on how to start a healthy and growing church from scratch.
Oasis Church Meets Jehovah Jireh
Our God continues to provide for Oasis Church in miraculous ways. For example, heading to our second church planting session at Liberty Seminary on Saturday, I took off down a one way street, and got pulled over by the campus police. As the officer rolled his window down, thoughts of Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny came roaring through my mind. A woman passed our vehicle as I was jokingly telling the officer that he should have expected this kind of behavior from a Jersey guy. When Leni Dittman heard I was a wiseguy from Jersey, she excitedly ran to our car to let me know that she and her husband, Dr. Leland (Lee) Dittman, director of Liberty Baptist Fellowship, were also from NJ. Coincidence? Yeah, ok.
The end result of the above “by chance” meeting in an empty parking lot was that the LBF is now intending to support our NJ church plant with $1000 in monthly support. God truly confirms and provides in miraculous ways! As Lydia and I brushed back tears from our eyes, we thanked the Lord that I was stupid enough to make a wrong turn. Oh yeah, and I got off without a ticket, too!
