Easter at Oasis in Hindsight

Easter was an amazing experience at Oasis because there were a lot of “Firsts”. First of all, having Grand Opened on 9/19/10 it was our first Easter as an official church family. Secondly, meeting at the AMC Loews Theater marked the first time we met outside of our regular meeting place at 11am at 1180 Spruce in Mountainside.
Having so many (350+ more than we usually get) guests was awesome and a definite stretch to our systems and Teams. I was so proud of how our Teams responded in selflessness and stepped up to the job of loving people with no strings attached. A number of people experienced transformed lives on that day!
What wasn’t a first was how God blew us away with blessings. He has continually been doing that for us at this NJ church since we arrived in Mountainside with only a handful of people. When I think about all God has done since that time , I’m reminded of Ephesians 3:20,21: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Of course, the following week we had out many less people, but we are very excited what God has done and will do through this 7 month old church plant. We can’t wait to see what He’s gonna do next! LOL. Come check us out Sundays at 11am!

Oasis Celebrated its First Christmas Eve

If you’ve been following our blog from the beginning of this God amazing adventure we call Oasis-Church-NJ.com, you are probably rejoicing with us about what He has done over the last year and a half. One friend who recently visited Oasis for the first time had this to say: “You spoke about starting a church for years, but I never thought it would ever happen. Boy was I wrong!” Over and over again, the Lord keeps reminding me of this: Never ever (put another ever in there!) underestimate the power of vision and the fact that our God is in the business of using ordinary people (translation: flawed, weak misfits by the world’s standards) to do extraordinary crazy things for Him.
As I stood up in front of all the folks who showed up for our first Christmas Eve as a new and growing church family, I was so overwhelmed with joy thinking about how God honors faith-filled risking taking for the Kingdom. Looking out at them with my IPhone, I asked them if I could take a picture! They said yes, but I mean, what were they gonna say on Christmas Eve? LOL. BTW, I’ll be putting up pictures soon, but in between that time I have video of the service for those who were not able to be there, or are curious about how we do a message at OC:
Over all, I guess the purpose of this blog entry is to remind myself and others that God honors vision and faith, and to let newcomers on this site know that Oasis-Church-NJ.com is a new casual, contemporary Christian church that meets Sundays at 11am at 1180 Spruce Dr in Mountainside, and during the the week in Connect Groups in various locations around NJ. So if any of you out there are yearning for more of God, meaning and purpose in life, come check us out. At Oasis you will enjoy a fun laid back setting, great music and relevant messages you can use in real life and meeting and connecting with new friends.
